Chicago is filled w/people willing to help and worthy causes abound. Why sit at home when you could be out exploring the city and having a great time to boot?
Big Brothers, tutoring, music lessons, coach baseball, Peace Corps, soup kitchens, NPO fund-raising, advocate for Chicago's Nature Areas. I'm so glad CFV has gone public... remember anyone can post here! In fact, we don't work w/out your help too!
Deep down, everyone has an understanding of right & wrong. Ask a person point-blank to define morals and from their eye contact, body stance and comfort level alone you'll know the type of life they've lived. Pretty neat, eh?
While I grew up here, I left for college @17 and only recently returned (for a surgery). It's fun to re-explore now that I have a valid-ID! I sold my car after moving downtown. Once rented a 9-seat iGo for carpooling.
My passions are nature and teaching. And tho I came up for the idea behind this site, life does *not* revolve around its upkeep. Recently began playing guitar at a home for the disabled, think they call that music therapy. My idea of side fun!
The idea for CHICAGO FUN VOLUNTEERS came to me as the Park Districts closed for the '09 season. Meetup seemed perfect to connect volunteers w/events. This is a "DO IT YOURSELF" group as I have a full-time travel job! CFV is open to all, post away :P
"I went to UW-Madison for Genetics (Wildlife Ecology too), am extremely extroverted by nature, atypical, and do this purely to be inspired for the karma. Volunteering is just one of my many hobbies."
If you like feeling good about yourself... being smiled at, and thanked... for regular decent things you'd probably do anyway - this is the group for you!

Thanks for my new name...."How to be a brat Guru!" I love it...and what exactly did I do now???
Hi Eliot,
Thanks and talk to you soon
Best wishes
Marianne
How is it MY fault you left tuna in your bag exactly???:-)
OK, good to know. Thanks Eliot! =)
How did the accident happen? OK, so you are officially designated as our brain molecule go-to guy. Sounds like you are also savvy about the dilemmas of bringing brain medicine and science to the public and policy makers -- very kool. That's exciting and hard work, I know.
Yeah, Eliot, I guess I never shy away from showing my love to my favorite colleage team. Glad it brought you some good laugh. :)
Looking forward to volunteering together with good karma seeks.
Glad to hear it buddy, welcome back.
Hi Eliot,
No can do this weekend at Montrose.
Would you like to help us out being a docent and lead Nature Tours at Montrose on September 17th?
We are always oversubscribed for the tours -- best in small groups, but we never have enough people
who can serve as a lively docent and create a good experience for everyone.
Cory
Hi Eliot - that sounds fun! I will definitely check it out. Thanks!
